FAYEMI SPENTS N50M ON 2 BED.... FAYOSE

                                           N50M Bed
Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has accused his predecessor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, of spending N50m on beds in his and his wife’s bedrooms in the newly built Ekiti State Government House.
He claimed in a statement made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday that what was spent on the two bedrooms, their toilets and bathrooms was in the region of N100m.
The statement titled “N3.3bn new Government House Is Fayemi’s Show of Wickedness To Ekiti People,” was signed by his Special Assistant on Information and Social Media, Mr. Lere Olayinka.
But Fayemi, through his media aide, Olayinka Oyebode, said the allegation was more about The Comedy of Errors. He advised Fayose to stop the theatre of absurd.
The statement by Olayinka described the new government house as an act of insensitivity to the plight of Ekiti people, many of whom, could not afford to feed once in a day.
According to the statement, no progressive-minded Ekiti person would see the “out-of-this-world luxury” provided with over N3.3bn borrowed funds for Fayemi, his wife and children and will not weep for the state and its people.
It claimed that the bed on which Fayemi slept before he left government was N30m while that of his wife was over N20m.
The statement read in part, “Between Fayemi and his wife, what was spent on their bedrooms, toilets and bathrooms will be in the region of N100m.
“How can a responsible government use borrowed funds to provide this kind of luxury for the governor and his family alone in a state where a lot of people cannot afford to feed more than once in a day?
“People should ask the former governor what was really wrong with the abandoned governor’s lodge used by his (Fayemi) predecessors?
“Shouldn’t such funds expended on the hilltop edifice have been used to resuscitate the moribund textile factory in Ado-Ekiti that was turned to lock-up shops to provide employment for our teeming youths?
“Also, was Fayemi living in that manner of opulence before he became governor? Was he sleeping on a body-massaging bed and bathing in an electric-controlled Jacuzzi?
“Here is Fayemi, who could not pay workers salaries, owing them two-month salaries before he left. A Fayemi, who out of sheer wickedness refused to pay pensioners N2.4bn pension and gratuities; N400m workers leave bonus, N700m subventions to parastatals and tertiary institutions and remit N2.4bn four months’ cooperative society’s deductions from workers salaries preferring to use N3.3bn borrowed funds to provide luxury for himself, his wife and children alone.
“This is wickedness!’’
The statement quoted Fayose as being alarmed at the waste of Ekiti resources to provide comfort for a single family out of the thousands of households in the state.
The-second-bedroomIt added, “The governor would have preferred to sell out the property and use the fund to provide basic amenities and employment opportunities for the people.”
The statement also alleged that Fayemi was planning to buy a helicopter if he had returned to office for a second term because the plan was for him “to run government from the comfort of Oke-Ayoba Government House and move from there to anywhere he wanted without the people seeing him.”
It added, “That’s also the reason he (Fayemi) refused to renovate the Governor’s Office, leaving it in a state of disrepair because he knew that he was not going to use the office during his second term.
“Also, contract for the maintenance of the property was already awarded for N150m per annum.
“When we visited the Government House for the first time yesterday, Mr Governor was like; how I wish I can sell off this place or turn it to commercial use? It is simply wicked for a governor to be more interested in this manner of ostentatious comfort at the expense of the people.”
Fayose, according to the statement, wondered “if the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, whom Fayemi and his so-called progressives claimed as their role-model, lived in any government house, much less of building an Emperor-like house for himself.”
“Did the late Adekunle Ajasin build a monarchical government house for himself? Did Baba Lateef Jakande live in any government house? These are great Yoruba sons, who recorded landmark achievements as premier of the old Western Region and governors of Lagos State and the old Ondo State respectively.
“The duo of Ajasin and Jakande were able to impact tremendously on their states because they did not like to waste public funds on the provision of luxury for themselves.”
The statement said that “left for Governor Fayose, he won’t use that aristocratic government house because it is a symbol of oppression in itself.”
The statement added, “He(Fayose) will prefer to live where Ekiti people can easily see him, touch him, eat with him and discuss the progress of the state together.
“But abandoning it would amount to colossal waste of public funds; but Governor Fayose will not hide himself from the masses.”
Fayemi’s media aide, however dismissed the allegation by Fayose, saying “I have taken a guided tour of that place and I don’t think I have seen such an outcry.
“I don’t know where they got their figure from; it sounds absurd. I ‘ll advise them to stop this theatre of absurd. Governance is a serious business and I am appealing to them not to reduce it to a joke.
“They are turning Ekiti into a circus show and they should stop it. It is childish and puerile for them to have come up with that figure. There is nothing ostentatious about Dr. Fayemi’s lifestyle: the lodge is there as a property of the state.
“Whether Fayose stays there or not is his cup of tea. The new government house is a legacy building. Dr. Fayemi did not go with it to Isan-Ekiti; it is for the state. It is not about personal aggrandisement; it is a befitting edifice for the state. Go to other states of the federation and see their government houses. Ekiti state deserves the best.”

MONOMENTAL FRAUD ROCK FIDELITY BANK PLC

Mr Frank Ogboko, a former staffer in Fidelity bank’s Internal Audit and Cost Control Unit just made very grave revelations in a petition. Along with docuements to back his assertions.

Here are trending details of his confounding disclosures
The former Fidelity Bank employee, Mr. Ogboko, a Chartered Accountant and a member of ICAN since 1990 has let to light discrepancies and fraud involving two companies, Oil Recovery and Environmental Services Limited and ERES N.V limited of depositors fund totaling N11billion, culminating from huge debit balances from rogue loans and capital market fraudulent activities involving both companies and the

management of Fidelity Bank.

According to Ogboko, who was appointed as a staff of Fidelity Bank on 1st November 2002,
he noticed the discrepancy in the balance sheet and notified his immediate boss Mr. Boye Ogunbolade, saying that the actions of the bank was not in line the banks’ corporate and financial guidelines,  but was persuaded to drop the matter and was eventually sacked.
He said. “Why my appointment was terminated was that I discovered a huge fraud perpetrated by officers of Fidelity bank. The officers involved are; Mr. Reginald Ihejiahi ( the former M.D) Chief Willie Obiano ( The Current Governor of Anambra State) Mr. Ikemefuna Mbagwu, Mr. Sam Obijiaku and Mr. Boye Ogunbolade.
“These are the officers involved in the fraud.
“I alerted Mr. Ogunbolade, my immediate boss that what the bank is doing is not good, that we are not making provisions in line with the provisional guidelines, and that is the N6.3 billion, and that we committed capital market fraud which is very very bad.
“He took offence and reported the matter to the M.D (Mr. Ihejiahi). They removed me from the unit, took me to the Corporate Services Unit.
“Right from the time the two companies took the loan, and they’ve taken subsequent loan from the bank, it beholds in the directors of the company to pay back the loans they took, but they did not and frantic effort was made by the bank to recover the loans.
“The bank statement relating to the accounts of both companies was above N3 billion each for the companies as the debit balance as at 31st October 2005. The two account balances were not cleared by the directors of the company because if the directors paid off the loan, they will give us the instruments used in paying back the loan.
They cannot pay it by cash. The bank wiped it off the system.
“The other case of the capital market fraud. What they did was that they will take money from the vault of Fidelity Bank. Vaults in various branches nationwide.
“They have regional officers in charge. They direct the regional officers to source money from their regions to pay into named accounts.
“These monies are then used by the beneficiaries to buy Fidelity bank shares. This implies that the board bought the shares by themselves. This they use in financing the initial public offer that they went for and then they say the shares have been oversubscribed.
“No, it is the depositors’ money that they used in buying the shares.
“And then they created loan accounts for such individuals. Those loan accounts are then converted into loans without appraisals and without recouping the funds.
“You now find out that the beneficiaries of those loans might not be able to pay back the loans because of the share prices explosion which brings the share prices down. The account beneficiaries still carry the loans the bank being what they are, know how to manage it. Those loans are created for people who did not apply for loans.
“In this case, the Central Bank of Nigeria did not go for investigations.
“This is how the capital market fraud was of N4.7 billion and the falsification of account to the tune of N6.3 billion totaling N11 Billion came about.
“This is what Chief Willie Obiano and his group including Mr. Peter Obi (the former governor of Anambra State) did, because Obi was the chairman then. It was a big fraud they committed.
“The two companies were in existence. I have documents showing their correspondence with Fidelity Bank that they existed.
“They can float a company; make A B or C as directors. Things can happen in Nigeria. The person will be coming to take money and give it to them.
“At the end of it all they know that, oh we cannot payback this money, they will just remove it gently from the system.
“I reported this matter to the then Inspector General of Police, Hafiz Ringim. I sat down one on one with him, I gave him copies of the documents. I reported this matter to the EFCC, I gave them copies, I have my own copies and nothing happened.
“Even when I came out, I had discussions with the office of the NSA, this matter went to them. They did investigations. They said Francis, what you did was correct; the bank actually did the fraud. The fraud was actually committed, they investigated and it is true.
“Nigeria and her corruption and settlement palaver, I don’t know how they were settling. The IG of police would receive a document and nothing happened. EFCC would receive a document and nothing happened.
“When the whole thing happened it was Tafida that was there at the EFCC, I am surprised the way things are happening in Nigeria.
“The names of the Officers of the bank involved were mentioned in the petitions I sent to the EFCC, Reginald Ihejiahi, Chief Willie Obiano, Sam Obijiaku, Ikemefuna Mbagwu, and Boye Ogunbolade. These were the key officers that were in charge of the affairs of the bank.
“The bank is an entity. They cannot say they were not aware of what was happened at the bank because we gave then reports every day.
“Because of this, there have been several threats to my life. I don’t stay in my house until this case is over. For them if I am no longer alive, then this case is over because nobody will challenge them. I am a shareholder of the bank and also a former staff of the bank.
“I spent nearly one year in Ikoyi Prisons but was later granted bail in the High Court by Justice Kehinde Johnson. Since I came out, for the bank to go and prosecute this matter now, they refused going because they know  that with the documents I have they will close down the bank. The N4.7 billion capital market fraud and N6.3 billion falsification of account.
“Chief Willie Obiano was there, Mr. Peter Obi was the chairman when all these was going on, and the money they used in paying to the account of Mr. Peter Obi’s company, Next International, I have documents relating to that.
“Since that thing was done, even though I was released on bail by the High court, they sent assassins to my house to look for me, but thank God I was not in the house that day. After that I had to relocate.”

I WILL NEVER ALLOWED PDP TO RULL LAGOS....Oba Railwan Akinolu

                                             Oba Rilwon Akinolu
The traditional ruler of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, on Wednesday, in Abuja, said that the Peoples Democratic Party would not rule Lagos State.
Akiolu spoke during the presentation of two books, “The story of my two worlds: Challenges, experiences,” and “A life of service and grace: Shared perspectives.”
“The story of my two worlds: Challenges, experiences” is an autobiography by a former President, Court of Appeal, the retired Justice Mustapha Akanbi, while “A life of service and grace: Shared perspectives” is a collection of essays by scholars.
Akanbi was also the pioneer chairman, Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission.
The monarch said the wish of many people in the state was that the PDP should not rule the state.
“We are praying that the PDP will not rule Lagos State. The gods and ancestors in Lagos will not allow the PDP to rule Lagos,” the monarch stated jokingly amidst general laughter.

I CAN NEVER ADDRESS TAMBUWAL AS SPEAKER.....IG Suleiman Abba

                                          Suleiman Abba
The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Suleiman Abba, was adamant on Wednesday, refusing to recognise the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Aminu Tambuwal, as the speaker.
The IG simply addressed him as “Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal”, a title that angered members of the House Committee on Police Affairs.
Abba insisted that it would be “subjudice” for him to address Tambuwal as speaker or any matter relating to him so long as such a matter was in court.
Chairman of the House committee, Mr. Usman Bello-Kurmo, asked him a direct question, “Is Aminu Waziri-Tambuwal the Speaker of the House of Representatives or not?”
The IG replied, “Mr. Chairman, you know that matters before the courts are subjudice.
“Commenting on them is subjudice until they are disposed of.”
The response brought the session between Abba and the committee to an abrupt end, as the two parties stormed out of the venue.
The committee, acting on a House resolution, had summoned Abba to explain why the police shut the gates of the National Assembly against lawmakers on Thursday last week.
During the closure, Tambuwal and many lawmakers were disallowed entry by the police, resulting in violent reactions by the members.
In the process, many of them scaled the gates to enter the premises and later forcibly took the Speaker into the House.
Riot policemen reacted by throwing tear gas canisters at Tambuwal and the enraged members.
As the Wednesday’s meeting was about to start, Bello-Kurmo called for maturity, saying that the interest of the country must prevail at all times.
However, speaking on what transpired last week, the IG justified the police action.
He maintained that all those the police restrained from entering the National Assembly were “thugs.”
Rather than admitting that his men threw tear gas canisters at lawmakers, he claimed that “a tear gas canister exploded.”
Abba also told lawmakers to their faces that it was his men who suffered physical assault and not the lawmakers.
He said, “The police management and particularly my own person, I was traumatised by what I saw happened to police officers that day.
“What happened was unprecedented worldwide; policemen were physically beaten and disobeyed, among other things that happened.”
He claimed that the police shut the National Assembly for security reasons after the Force Headquarters received intelligence that Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, and All Progressives Congress supporters were going to attack the legislature and other public offices on November 20.
According to him, a day earlier on the 19th, the “leadership” of the APC, Amaechi and party members had blocked the Force Headquarters in Abuja, “where they made uncomplimentary statements and threatened to do worse (things) in the days ahead.”
Among the places he claimed would have been attacked by the APC members and Amaechi were the Presidential Villa and the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
He added that his men merely asked for identification from lawmakers and that they allowed those who complied into the premises.
The IG stated that, bearing in mind that the parliament in Burkina Faso suffered a similar attack recently, he ordered the massive security beef-up to safeguard the National Assembly.
He added, “The procedure was orderly until the arrival of Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal and his men with quite a number of suspected thugs to disrupt the security arrangements.
“Unfortunately, a tear gas canister exploded at the gate; the situation is unfortunate and it is being investigated.”
He also claimed to have briefed the Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms to the National Assembly and “some members of staff of principal officers” on the police action a day earlier.
Abba was very careful throughout his speech, avoiding the use of the word “speaker” when referring to Tambuwal.
Members were already boiling with anger over the IG’s attitude and could barely wait for him to round off before they berated him for “disrespecting” the Speaker.
Two members of the committtee, Hakeem Munir and Victor Nwokolo, asked him to retract his earlier comment and address Tambuwal with his official title, but Abba refused.
With members threatening to walk out of the meeting if Abba would not recognise Tambuwal as the Speaker, Bello-Kurmo called off the session abruptly.
The committee resolved that the discussions could no longer hold since the IG would not accord Tambuwal his respect.
Lawmakers stormed out of the venue angrily, stopping Bello-Kurmo from shaking hands with Abba or making efforts to see him off to the door.

JONATHAN ADMINISTRATION HAS FAILED TO TACKLE B HARAM IN NIGERIA.....Aremu Olusegun Obasanjo OBJ

                                         OBJ
CORRUPTION as a recurring factor in Nigeria again came under focus on Wednesday with former President Olusegun Obasanjo rapping the President Goodluck Jonathan administration and the National Assembly for promoting corruption and poor governance.
“For quite some time, the covered and hushed-up corruption has had its toll on the economy,” Obasanjo said.
He said the increasing corruption under Jonathan had damaged the economy, warning that “in the future, we will have a budget that cannot be funded.”
“We may have to borrow to pay salaries and allowances. Revenue allocation to states and local governments has already drastically reduced. Capital projects at all levels may have to be drastically cut or stopped,” he added.
The ex-President spoke in Abuja at the presentation of books by a former Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, retired Justice Mustapha Akanbi. Obasanjo was the chairman of the occasion.
He said, “Nigeria cannot continue to indulge in disdain of truth, elevation of corruption and incompetence, reinforcement of failure, condonation of heinous crimes and celebration of mediocrity, tribal bigotry, fomenting violence and anti-democratic practices in states and National Assembly.
“Corruption in the National Assembly also includes what they call constituency projects, which they give to their agents to execute, but invariably, full payment is made with little or no job done.
“In all these, if the executive is absolutely above board, the offending members of the National Assembly resort to subtle or open threat, intimidation and blackmail of the executive.”
On the escalating insurgency by the violent Islamic sect, Boko Haram, Obasanjo said Jonathan’s delayed understanding of the menace posed by the group caused the worsening insecurity in the country.
He said, “Boko Haram is not simply a menace based on religion or one directed to frustrate anybody’s political ambition. It is essentially a socio-economic problem that is tainted with religion. It is a gargantuan danger to the nation and to all Nigerians.
“Initially, President Jonathan’s understanding of Boko Haram phenomenon suffered from wrong reading and wrong imputation. That is what led us to where we are today.
“It took even the President more than three years to appreciate and understand that it is a terrible mix of poor education or lack of education; misinterpretation of what Islam and the Quran teach and stand for, poverty, unemployment, injustice, drug, gun trafficking, human trafficking, fallout from Libya, revenge, frustration, struggle against inequality, imitation of international terrorism leading to training and part of the absorption by international terrorist groups and general poor governance, including corruption. I have always maintained that the solution to Boko Haram or any organisation like it lies in the application of carrot and stick approach.”
However, Obasanjo did not go unchallenged at the forum as the Oba of Lagos, who was also the chief launcher of the Akanbi books, Oba Rilwanu Akiolu, accused Obasanjo of failing to account for the barrels of crude oil sales despite boasting he would do so before he came to power.
Akinolu said Obasanjo, before he assumed the Presidency in 1999, pledged to ensure transparency in the Nigerian oil sector “but later reneged on his promise as the oil sector was besieged with quantum corruption.”
“Obasanjo failed to address the problems with the number of crude oil per barrel produced daily; how many barrels are exported for sale as well as the use of the proceeds”, the monarch alleged.
The ex-President fired back that it was during his tenure that allocation to states became transparent with the publication of monthly revenue to the three tiers of government.
He said his government “also worked out modalities to enthrone accountability and transparency in the oil sector.”
Vice-Presient Namadi Sambo, who was represented by his Senior Special Assistant (Monitoring), Mr. Femi Oladele, commended Justice Akanbi’s effort on anti-corruption and commitment to service.
He said by carving a niche for himself in the fight against graft, the jurist had left indelible footprints in the sands of time.
In his remarks, Akanbi observed that although there were allegations of witch – hunt during the Obasanjo administration, the ex-President never interfered with his job in the ICPC.

EKENE DILI CHUKWU LOOSES PROPERTIES TO AMCON

In the Ilodibe household, wonders shall never cease. In fact, it is not an exaggeration to say that anything is possible in this super-polygamous family.
As the scramble for and partition of Ekene Dili Chukwu’s financial empire rage on, AMCON has secured a Federal high court injunction and has taken possession of the late chief’s Allen Avenue mansion, his offices in Jibowu and a host of other very valuable properties. This is because of huge debts owed banks by the family business. These loans were taken even before the death of the late chief in 2007 but rather than concentrate on paying back the monies, the family has been divided on who gets what in a very dangerous fight that seems to just be kicking off.
According to a top ex-staff of Ekene Dili Chukwu, just like most big companies, the company took loans and with the help of the estate wing of the company, the transport wing was able to repay the loans and continue business. But with various factions laying claims to different sectors of the business empire, it is impossible to repay such loans. So now AMCON has moved in and the family has suddenly woken up and is fighting to reclaim its very prized assets from AMCON. We shall keep you updated of development.
In our last edition, we served you the story of how the third wife of the late Ekene Dili Chukwu Transport magnate died with a very strange illness. Following the death of Ngozi Pauline Ilodibe, our team of reporters immediately travelled to Otolo Nnewi, Anambra State for the burial of this woman as we suspected that it would be an eventful one.
The burial ceremony held at the expansive family mansion of the late chief which he bequeathed to his first son, Ekene Jnr; as tradition demands. But surprisingly, the burial was not well attended by both family and friends of the Ilodibes. Ngozi Ilodibe from our investigation was very popular with her husband’s kinsmen. Unlike the second wife and matriarch of the family, Ifeoma who is widely recognized by all, a lot of people see the late Ngozi and her children as intruders. This is so principally because out of her five children, only one was biologically fathered by Ekene Dili Chukwu. She had these other four for her first husband whom she abandoned to marry Chief Augustine Ilodibe. Ifeoma who was said to be away from the country was not at the burial, neither did any of her children. The daughters of the first wife led by Akuoma were present on the evening of the wake-keep within the area but refused to attend the wake-keep. Rather shockingly, they refused to enter the main family premises where the wake-keep took place and remained at their uncle’s house nearby. The girls who were in a very bitter fight with the third wife before she became sick and died showed no remorse whatsoever but according to family sources, that evening they were in celebration mood that Ngozi was dead. Most of their relatives watched them helplessly as they drank with excitement to celebrate the death of their father’s third wife and longtime rival over the family’s sprawling estate in Onitsha. They were quite a sight to behold. Headlining the girls was Akuoma Ilodibe, the one who is said to have seized the estate company of the family and was bitterly in a do-or-die fight with both Pauline and her first son Odera, who is now in charge at the Onitsha wing. It was shameful scenario as passersby and village people wondered aloud how this enmity could have reached this level. Before the burial ceremony went halfway, Ekene Jnr. arrived and gave the marching orders that she could not be buried in his compound but in an empty forest land that also belongs to him not too far from their family house. That was where Pauline Ilodibe was laid to rest.

FRAUDULENT ACTIVITIES OF STAFF MAKE COCACOLA GOES BANKRUPT

Nigerian business and economic atmosphere is perceived in Africa as one of the biggest and more business-friendly environment. However, it is surprising that the country prided as the giant of Africa is currently enmeshed in the gradual downfall of many once upon a time big companies. Some of the more seemingly successful companies are gradually going down the drain with the likes of Dunlop, Cocoa Industries and many others finding their ways out.
Well, the hot gist here is that one company which has established itself in Nigeria for decades and is still rated to be strong, Coca Cola, may not be as strong as people may think. Information reaching our desk has it that the management of the company, having discovered that there had been some discrepancies in the auditing of the sales department, which is one of the most important segments of the company decided to subsidize the arm to a private company named Oritsetimeyin Logistics.

This company, according to reports, has been struggling to put the record straight as far as the sales of the company’s products are concerned. We also have it on good authority that the Nigerna Bottling Company, manufacturers of Coca Cola are still planning to subsidize some other departments to more private companies for better performances.

REAL REASON REDEEMED UNIVERSITY, EDE CAMPUS IN A BIG MESS

                                                    Adeboye

The Redeemed University, Ede Campus is currently in a big mess. Feelers reaching CIVILIANNEWS affirmed that things are not working according to plan on the ivory tower. The school, owned by the Redeemed Christian Church of God, is said to be enmeshed in several internal crises ranging from academic, administrative and general aspects.
Yet, a lot of people are in the dark as to the real reasons the school is going through this critical period. We can authoritatively tell you that the problems faced by the institution is caused by the rancour between the general overseer of the parent body of the school, Pastor E.A. Adeboye and the traditional ruler of Ifewara over the location of the school. We were told that the monarch had instructed Pastor Adeboye against locating the school in Ede, a town that has no connection with the revered man of God, but due to the high connection of the vice chancellor of the school who hails from Ede, the vast acres of land were purchased for the school, but, pronto, nothing tangible was achieved thereafter.
We also have it on good authority that it is not only the monarch of Ifewara that is against the step taken by Pastor Adeboye towards the location of Redeemed University in Ede, but the entire citizens of the town are also against this move. However, Pastor Adeboye took a bold step by establishing a secondary school in Ifewara to appease his people but they refuse to accept the secondary school as a compensation all they want is the university. A visit to the Ede campus of the Redeemed University shows that things are not going on well and drastic steps need to be taken to bring succor to the campus.

MEET 10 MOST NIGERIAN STUBBORN POLITICIANS

Stubbornness may be viewed in different ways depending on the situation. Some people are viewed as positively stubborn persons while some others are perceived as negatively stubborn individuals. In this context, CIVILIANNEWS did a research on 10 Nigerian political gladiators who have achieved their goals through their styles of being hard nuts to crack. Read on…

  1. CHIBUIKE AMAECHI: Governor Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, through his celebrated rancor with the number one family of Nigeria conveniently falls into this category. He singlehandedly fought the president and his wife due to their seeming involvement in the rulership of Rivers State. It is noteworthy that both Gov. Rotimi and Dame Patience Jonathan are from Okrika hence they are both kin. But what people believe is that Mrs. Jona should have concentrated on the affairs of her husband’s state, Bayelsa where she is a permanent secretary. It is now left for Gov. Rotimi to continue with his ruggedness in order to retain both his seat and relevance come 2015.
  2. GEN. MOHAMMODU BUHARI: Though he may look calm and unruffled, the former head of state and commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria is another stubborn politician. He is gradually attaining the enviable record of America’s former president Abraham Lincoln who contested many times before realizing his dream. Buhari is indeed a regular customer in Nigeria’s presidential elections since the resumption of democracy in 1999, but till date he has not been able to secure victory. Anyway, 2015 is another opportunity as Nigerians wait eagerly if the leaders of the APC would hand over their sole ticket to the Daura-born ex-soldier, who was “Maradonically” booted out of power in 1983 by the wiser IBB.
  3. ORJI UZOR KALU: Ex-governor of Abia State is another politically strong man who cannot be underrated. During his tenure as the number one landlord of Abia, he embarked on several people-oriented projects and also contributed immensely to the huge success of Enyimba Football Club towards their pursuit of the African Champions League double triumph. Kalu, till date is well feared and respected in Abia’s political terrain and he is also eyeing Nigeria’s most coveted office, the Akinola Aguda House in Aso Rock. Orji Kalu is reported to have set his machinery ready for this aim.
  4. Chris UBAH: Enfant terrible of Anambra’s politics, Ubah is indeed a one-man riot squad. He made the tenure of ex-governor Chris Ngige a terrifying one by having links with the kidnap of a whole number one citizen of a state, the first and only time it would happen in the country’s polity. Today, Ubah is still waxing stronger in his political stubbornness. He remains one of those who would decide the outcome of the 2015 election in Anambra which happens to be one of the most politically volatile states in Nigeria.
  5. BOLA AHMED TINUBU: The Jagaban Borgu himself is very much known by all Nigerians to be a very stubborn politician with a rugged go-getting approach. He stood his ground when ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo refused to give him Lagos State allocation for years. Tinubu, through his doggedness went ahead to create additional LCDAs which eventually are still coping with the economic situation of the state till date. The huge influences he wades politically also reflects in his wife, Remi emerging a senator in the National Assembly, his son-in-law, a House of Representatives member and his daughter, Folashade the Iyaloja of Lagos. These achievements can never be waved aside by anyone.
  6. OLUSEGN OBASANJO: Otta farmer and ex-president, Chief Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo is indeed a political “Area Father”. Baba Iyabo emerges the country’s numero uno citizen at the dawn of democracy on May 29, 1999. He ruled the country with both mild and iron hands for eight years before he stylishly planted an ailing Umaru Musa Yar’Adua as his successor. OBJ, as baba is fondly called, is perceived by different people in diverse ways. He stepped on so many seemingly untouchable toes ranging from dubious businessmen (419), politicians and other corrupt people. Baba Iyabo also got involved in many controversial issues that cannot be showcased on this page due to space constraint.
  7. IYIOLA OMISORE: Recently defeated guber hopeful of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore is an original member of this list. His link with the killing of former attorney general, Bola Ige in 2001 affected his victory during the August 9, 2014 election. Many political watchers are of the view that, perhaps, if he was not linked with that unfortunate scene, he might have had a leeway to Oke-fia, Oshogbo government house. Omisore has also been linked with several other political fracases both in his abode and within the country.
  8. AYO FAYOSE: Mr. “Second Chance Governor” as some political analysts recently renamed him, is another rugged politician to the core. His outputs and characters easily sell him out as a no-nonsense political jingoist. During his first tenure as governor of Ekiti State, he was reported to have challenged a University of Ado-Ekiti student to open fisticuffs. But give it to him, Fayose has proven to Nigerians that he is a grassroots politician.
  9. STELLA ODUAH: Though women are more perceived as weaker bones by Biblical standards, but some have proven to be stronger bones with their acts. Stella Oduah-Ogienwonyi happens to be the only female member of this group due to her dexterity and act of “I don’t care”.Recall that she was enmeshed in a corrupt case of purchasing two cars for a whopping N255 million; she waved the challenge aside and after being sacked as aviation minister she is now hoping to contest for the Senate. Some who also worked with her at her oil and gas company, Sea Petroleum also describe her as an iron lady.
  10. RAUF AREGBESOLA: Osun Governor Ogbeni Aregbesola is also a man to be feared in the area of politics in Nigeria. He is reported to have forced the PDP to select Senator Iyiola Omisore as their governorship candidate in Osun State which took place on August 9, 2014. Ogbeni, however, emerged the winner but not without series of rugged campaigns and money-spending. The comrade activist was also reported to have once slept in a casket in order to evade thugs attack in Iwo.

WHYH I DECIDED TO SHOT DOWN MY BUSINESS MOVIDA NITE CLUB.....Shodehinde

                                                     Akeem Shodehinde

When it come to clubbing business there is no gain saying because, Lagos big boy,Akeem Shodehinde popularly called General is the number one in the business. The stylish dude who own popular night club in Lagos, Movida nite club on Idowu Taylor Street, Victoria Island,Lagos that always been the leading club in Lagos with top CEO’s, cooperate body executives, socialites, celebrities and other creme de la creme in the social scene who catches fun in the club.
Recently,we got information about the club been shut down and we put a call through to the dark complexion dude who granted CIVILIANNEWS an interview on the shutting down story of the club, his baby mama and the true story about him given his life to christ. Enjoy.
We heard you are closing down the club,Movida?
Yea,the club was shut down last week to enable me attend to my health and take care of my family. Am closing the club for health reason,to re brand/restructure and give my life to christ.
There is an insulation that you are closing down for debt reason?
No, owning debt has always been part of businesses any where in the whole world, people owe you or you owe people but the good aspect of it is to accept the fact that you have a debt is to show and accept with a reason and believe to pay back the money you borrow or owe but let the people know its just because of the circumstances of life/situation and the way it came after you. I also want to thank my very good friends and brother that really stood by me, I have so much love for them and I pray long life for them and thank them for all the good things they have done for me and I promise I will never disappoint them in Jesus name.
Don’t you think you’ll be disappointing those who you mentioned as you want to pull out of the business?
Really, its not about what people think, for now is what I feel. Actually for now I don’t care about what people think whether I pull out or not its about my health, my life comes first without no health, you don’t have a businesses not because I want to try and please anybody then I should go and kill myself they are sleeping in the house and am standing under the heat and shouting so nobody can tell me about what to do. First of all God comes first then my life follows and tomorrow if God says I should not do night club again so shall it be in Jesus (Amen). I will go back to bible school and say the lord prayers, nobody in this world is bigger than God, I thank him for keeping me alive I don’t care about money or riches, money is something that will come and go but the power of God is bigger than everything, I have been doing a night club business for eighteen to twenty year and I have not heard a gunshot, I have not been robbed. Someone up there likes me very much, He that is in me is greater than he that is in the world, so I thank Him for his mercy, God first before any other persons.
Looking at it you are planning to come back after the election, are you planning to come out with new ideas come next year?.
The most interesting part of night club business is the surprises, its always sweet when you give them something they didn’t expect or believe. For now I can say something then after God can say no, so what I will say is, they just should expect the unexpected. First of all, the first thing I need God to do for me is to give me long life, so that I can build a church and tell him thank you, no matter how small the church may be I will tell him thank you for keeping me alive for the past two to three years of this unfaithful moment of my life. My God is the most important thing, I have realized a lot of thing after the sickness came to me that I need to be closer to God and anybody out there that loves life need to be closer to God after that one, if God say I will live till after election then they should expect the unexpected. God has a reason for my living and I shall prove it out in Jesus name and if it doesn’t happen I will go to the Bible school and give my life to Christ and am happy whatever that comes its God power and I thank God for his mercy even a man that has no Kobo has family, a man that pushes truck has family, If I even sell pure water, I thank God. I will not impress anybody, I will not be a robber or a criminal to impress the whole world, all my staff are wonderful, they have all tried in supporting me, my landlord, my friend, Chief Dimo Bruce , Prince Segun Aremu Oniru, my brother Dele Sodeinde, my cousin Toyin they are been supportive to me for the past ten years and my family that prayed for me during my sickness I said thank you all and God bless you all.
I don’t want to impress anybody I just want to thank almighty God. Rushing into my life causes alot of problem the ability to be successful take a longer time, there is difference between love and hate, people think making money is the first thing in life, the patience dog eat the fattest bone. I have gone down three times and have come back three times, God that kept my life has a reason I will not because of people then I kill myself. I open Movida just to prove a point that I didn’t close it down because am broke or because they chased me out, I close it down because its affecting my health and I don’t have brothers who can manage it because they are professionals in their own choosing career. Actually, after two or three years of running a night club one is suppose to re brand or restructure and I have been running mine for almost five years and more, I thank my customers and everybody who believed in me that I will come back and am back but I will take time to relax take care of my health for now then after the election next year I will come back and re-open again but for now am resting because of my health, nobody knows tomorrow if God says am coming back so shall it be, but I need to take a medical check-up and balance my health because I only have one daughter and I want her to see me on her wedding day and say daddy am happy for you. I want to thank my landlord also who has been there for me and everyone who I didn’t remember or time will not permit me to mention their names for their love and support, am coming back next year after the election because we don’t know what the country will be like, for now am going on free holiday leave to relax and I thank everyone who has been there for me by praying for me during my sick time I really appreciate everyone of you, I pray to God that the wedding luck should come before next year ending, and anyone I find I will take my time and pray to God to give to me the right person as a wife and if God says it will be my baby mama also so shall it be in Jesus name.
After the doctor’s warning, why did you chose to still smoke and drink?
That is an illumination, I pretend I do something extra ordinary to the whole world but I don’t do it. Meanwhile, in my house or anywhere I don’t drink but when I get to club by 12:30am I just take pure champagnes and many people now think I drink because if I don’t do that it will affect the business. When I put water or coke in my front and costumers come and see me drink it,they will also go for such because they may believe that is what they sell here and I’ve seen a club shut down base this.
But to be honest the smoking is an addiction,I can’t lie to God because if I lie am just deceiving myself not anybody. But I have been praying to God to stop which I believe I will stop soon. And the habit of drinking and smoking is the more reason I need to shut the club down because its really affecting my only one working kidney which is not good for my health at all. Am shutting down the club because of my health and when am fully ok, I will re-open the club again and I don’t want people to judge me because they see me drink and smoke in the club even when you see me playing with ladies in the club,it is just the nature of my job not my sex or personal life style because I don’t do it at home or anywhere. I’ve given my life to Christ for all he has done for me, for He is the greatest.
At this period that you want to relax and shut down the club, how do pay your bills?
No business man can put his two eggs in one basket. There are some little things one can feed on not just like the mega one. I still have what I can live on and mind you my expenses will not be like before but I will still live well and pay my bills. I have things that can still keep me alive. If I remember that there are people who sells Akara and Tuwo to survive I believe I will survive because I can go and beg for shoes or clothes, am not too greedy neither am I desperate and If God says there is live, he will send the deliverance to me, God’s time is the best. Starvation is never my problem. You know what, people has went through a lot in the bible like Lazarus and Abraham, and they shared testimony so who am I. First of all, let me take care of my life and after my life I will think of what to do.
People see you as the first in the clubbing business who has been fulfil, how true is this?
I used to see myself as leading in the business because I never lost any battle in the business and I always make things happen in the business but after my sickness within one year and Seven months, things have really change and made me realize I have a lot of work to do. One thing I don’t do is looking or taking focus to look other people’s business because when you do that you have taking one percent of your business to other person which make his/her own 101percent while your own is left with 99percent. Am closing down to replan and restruction because what I love is challenging when some think is the best and I will come out to show or tell them am more stronger or better. I don’t beef or backbite any club because opening a club business in this country is no joke and I respect people in that business and its not easy dragging people down to come and spend money there. I pray that everybody who invest in business should always get profit. Am going to come back to be the best and the number one as usual when God give me life, there is no one who is inevitable and that is why they call some people general and some retired general. You do a business and it will get a stage you have to surrender for the young ones to grow, my age time is coming and I have to rest and train some new young ones but before then am going to prove my last point that I have reason for leaving when I reopen next year.
You sound more religions, are you really looking forward to being born again?
Our God is an awesome God, in 2009 before opening Movida when I was running Insomnia with Lolu and Joseph Yobo I made a promise to God that I will never gamble again when and if I did, He should strike me dead or punish me. God gave me 77Million Naira to open Movida and I made so much money there and I never pay tithe to God but I was giving money to everybody around me like beggars, girlfriends just mention few but God that gave me life, I didn’t give him one Naira. And today I have went through a lot which I and people believe am going to die and He still kept me alive with one kidney which means He still love me after making covenant with him not to go back to gambling and I still went back.
But I’ve now realized that gambling means life itself is a gamble, whatever you do in life is a gamble, so I’ll never make any covenant never to gamble in life but I will gamble anything in life but never gamble to kill or wreck myself. I will build a church for almighty God before the age of 50, give it to somebody and thank God for keeping me alive.
Also,if the club business not really in me anymore I will go to bible school and praise the lord, I have seen what God has done in my life in different ways. I have a kidney problem and diabetics but am still eating Gari,Rice and so on and am still living. I don’t know what he keeps me for, if Lord says am going to serve him let it be done,I will do anything to praise his name because am very a prayerful man who had seen that God has the ultimate power to live. No matter how powerful or your position in the society, I know God is the most powerful and he will always be with me and my family always in Jesus name

ALIKO DANKOTE DECEIVES NIGERIANS WITH N1,000 BAG OF CEMENT TO FIGHT COMPETITORS

Everyone knows that AlhajiAliko Dangote is a highly successful business magnate in Nigeria. He sits atop the Dangote Group, which has interests in commodities. The company operates in Nigeria and several other countries in Africa, including Benin,Cameroon, Togo,Ghana, South Africa and Zambia. As at March 2014, he had an estimated net worth of $25 billion USD. Dangote is ranked by Forbes Magazine as the 23rd richest person in the world and the richest man in Africa. He surpassed Saudi-Ethiopian billionaire Mohammed Hussein Al Amoudiin 2013 by over $2.6 billion to become the world’s richest black man.
Right now, the big businessman is doing everything possible to frustrate those who want to venture into any of his lines of business. Take for instance, the cement business; Dangote, in a bid to oust those who he believes are his major competitors recently reduced the price of his brand of cement to N1,000 per bag to ensure that the likes of BUA Cement owned by Abdulsamad Rabiu, Ibeto Cement owned by Dr. Cletus Ibeto and the Saro Cement are all frustrated out of business. Also, in a bid to use some tricks to give confidence to Nigerians, Dangote said that he will make sure that he pays the accumulating tax on his cement manufacturing and importation to the federal government from his own personal account. Anyway, one fact remains that Nigerians believe that the rich do not pay tax in this country and they already have a mutual relationship and business pact with the federal government. We also have it on good authority that this will not be the first time Dangote would say that he is crashing the prices of cement. Some who are in the know told us that he only does that to harass his competitors and send them packing from the business.
Alhaji Aliko Dangote who hails from Kano State is also from a wealthy Muslim family. From the time he was young, Dangote had an eye on business. He was quoted as saying, “I can remember when I was in primary school, I would go and buy cartons of sweets [sugar boxes] and I would start selling them just to make money. I was so interested in business, even at that time.” He studied business at the Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egyptand thereafter returned to Nigeria to borrow from his uncle Sanusi Abdulkadir Dantata, who provided him a loan of ₦500,000 when Aliko was just 21 years old, in order to start a business.
The Dangote Group was established as a small trading firm in 1977. Today, it is a multi-trillion naira conglomerate with many of its operations in Benin, Ghana,Nigeria, and Togo. At present, Dangote has enlarged his line of businesses to also cover food processing, cement manufacturing, and freight. The Dangote Group also dominates the sugar market in Nigeria and is a major sugar supplier to the country’s soft drink companies, breweries, and confectioners. The Dangote Group has moved from being a trading company to being the largest industrial group in Nigeria and these include: Dangote Sugar Refinery, Dangote Cement, and Dangote Flour, just to mention a few.
Many people are now watching with keen eyes the reason for this Father Christmas attitude of Dangote who is notorious for allowing any competitor to cross his line of business and they are skeptical of this generosity to the extent that they claim that nothing good will definitely come out of it and when he is finally done with those he lays the landmines for, cement price will definitely come back to its normal price.
